Michael P. Biggans, J.D/M.S, LPCClinical Psychotherapist
In my practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor and clinical psychotherapist, I specialize in helping adults transform the pain of depression, trauma, and anxiety into opportunities for growth and healing. I’m passionate about guiding individuals on a journey back to themselves, empowering them to break free from the past and create a more meaningful future

An Integrative Approach to Mental Wellness
My journey to becoming a therapist has been anything but conventional. Before answering a deeper calling to support others in healing, I worked as a trial attorney, defending personal and civil rights. This experience gave me a deep appreciation for human resilience and a firsthand understanding of the systemic forces that shape well-being.
Drawn by a growing curiosity about consciousness and the healing potential of entheogens, I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Villanova University. My training focused on treating anxiety, depression, and complex trauma. I’ve worked with diverse populations, including veterans with PTSD, college students under pressure, and individuals facing trauma, grief, dissociation, and loss. I also support clients in facilitating and integrating psychedelic experiences and exploring psycho-spiritual growth.
A Commitment to Holistic & Integrative Healing
My diverse background informs a deeply integrative approach to therapy, rooted in the belief that true healing comes from within. While trained in evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, and Mindfulness and Self-Compassion-Based Therapies, I primarily work from the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model.
Having both practiced and personally benefited from IFS, I find it one of the most effective ways to help individuals access their inner wisdom and heal the wounded parts that contribute to suffering. I also integrate Mindfulness- and Compassion-Based Exposure Therapy, grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to support those navigating severe anxiety, depression, and treatment-resistant conditions. This approach builds psychological flexibility, reduces avoidance, and helps clients live more in line with their values.
Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy
My interest in psychedelic-assisted therapy stems from a strong belief that, when used responsibly within a skilled and supportive therapeutic framework, these medicines can catalyze deep healing and transformation. My work focuses on the powerful synergy between IFS, mindfulness-based exposure work, and psychedelic-assisted treatment—particularly with lower, psycholytic doses. These gentler doses can enhance emotional processing and deepen inner exploration, especially when integrated with IFS and ACT. This makes them a promising tool for working with complex trauma, anxiety, and conditions that have been resistant to traditional treatment.
Guiding You Back to Your Inner Balance
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my work is grounded in a deep commitment to helping adults navigate the complexities of depression, trauma, and anxiety-related challenges. I’m especially drawn to working with those who feel stuck—people who’ve tried other approaches and are still searching for lasting change.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply respectful of your inner experience. I create a space where you can safely explore the parts of you that hold pain, protect you from it, or simply feel lost in the noise of everyday life. I believe we all carry an innate healing intelligence—what IFS calls the Self—that, when accessed, can bring clarity, calm, and connection to even the most fragmented inner worlds.
You don’t need to be fixed—you need to be met, understood, and supported in reconnecting with the wisdom already inside you. That’s the work we’ll do together.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside of my work as a therapist, I’m deeply rooted in the joy of everyday experiences. You’ll often find me hiking with my two dogs, snowboarding in the Colorado mountains, exploring Denver’s food scene with my wife and friends, catching live music, or diving into books and podcasts that fuel both personal and professional growth.
