FAQ
How do I know if I need therapy or if it will help me?
Choosing to start therapy can feel like a big step—one that often comes with a mix of uncertainty and internal conflict. Even as therapists, we understand how overwhelming it can be to take that first step and find someone who feels like a good fit. You might wonder if therapy is really necessary or if it can truly make a difference in your life. These thoughts are completely normal, and they can signal that therapy might be the right next step for you.
We understand that life’s challenges—whether emotional, psychological, or relational—can leave you feeling stuck or lost. Our goal is to help you gain insight, shift perspectives, and move toward meaningful change. Through a collaborative process, we provide the guidance and tools needed to navigate difficult situations, improve emotional well-being, and restore a sense of balance.
Therapy can be especially helpful if you or a loved one are experiencing:
- Persistent feelings of distress, sadness, or anxiety
- Struggles with relationships or family dynamics
- Feeling stuck, unmotivated, or disconnected
- Trauma or unresolved emotional pain
- Difficulty managing stress or life transitions

How much does therapy cost?
While therapy can feel like a significant financial commitment, there is no greater investment than in your mental health and overall well-being. At Denver Emotional Health, we believe that therapy isn’t just about coping with difficulties—it’s about creating lasting, meaningful change. Our approach goes beyond traditional talk therapy to engage you in experiential psychotherapy, helping you not only reduce mental health struggles but also build lifelong skills, strategies, and perspectives for a more fulfilling life.
Therapy is an investment in your future, laying the groundwork for personal growth, emotional resilience, and a life that feels more aligned with your values and goals. The benefits of this work can extend far beyond the time spent in sessions, improving your relationships, mental clarity, and day-to-day experience of life.
Our standard rate for individual psychotherapy is $150 per 50-minute session. The length of treatment varies based on your unique needs and goals, and we’ll work together to find an approach that suits both your therapeutic needs and budget.

Do you take Insurance?
I am committed to making therapy accessible. To that end, I am pleased to accept Colorado Medicaid for a limited number of clients. If you are interested in using your Medicaid benefits, please contact me directly to discuss availability and eligibility, as these slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Otherwise, I am considered an “out-of-network” provider with most insurance plans. What this means is I do not bill insurance companies directly, but can help you in getting reimbursed from your insurance, if you are eligible. Here’s how that typically works:
- Payment at Service: You’ll pay the full session fee at the time of our appointment.
- Superbill Provided: I’ll provide you with a detailed receipt, called a “superbill,” after each session. This document contains all the information your insurance company needs to process your claim.
- Submit to Your Insurance: You can then submit this superbill directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
What to Know About Out-of-Network Reimbursement:
- Reimbursement Varies: The amount your insurance company reimburses depends on your specific plan’s out-of-network benefits. Some plans offer significant reimbursement, while others may cover less or none at all.
- Check Your Benefits: It’s a great idea to contact your insurance provider before starting therapy to understand your out-of-network benefits. Ask about your deductible, co-insurance, and the percentage they cover for out-of-network mental health services.
- I’m Here to Help: While I don’t handle insurance billing directly, I’m happy to answer any questions you have about the superbill process and provide you with the necessary documentation.
What kind of therapy is done at Denver Emotional Health?
Our Integrative, Transformative Approach to Healing
At Denver Emotional Health, we specialize in helping adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or have not found relief through traditional therapy. Many of our clients struggle with complex trauma, treatment-resistant depression, chronic anxiety, OCD, or long-standing emotional pain. Our approach blends the best of evidence-based and cutting-edge therapies to create lasting, meaningful change.
Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, we craft personalized treatment plans using the following core modalities:
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy
IFS is a powerful, trauma-informed modality that views the mind as a system of “parts” — each carrying its own emotions, beliefs, and protective roles. Some parts may be stuck in past pain, while others try to manage or protect you in ways that may no longer serve you. IFS helps you connect to your Core Self — a place of clarity, compassion, and calm — and heal the parts of you carrying emotional burdens.

Mindfulness & Compassion-Based Exposure Therapy
Our version of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) integrates mindfulness with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold standard for anxiety, phobias, and OCD. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult thoughts or emotions, we help you build psychological flexibility: the ability to sit with discomfort while taking meaningful action toward your values. Through compassionate exposure, you’ll learn to face fears gradually and safely, without reverting to avoidance or compulsive behaviors.
This approach helps rewire your nervous system, builds emotional resilience, and empowers you to break free from the cycle of fear, shame, and avoidance.
Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy
For clients with treatment-resistant mental health conditions or complex trauma, we offer legal psychedelic-assisted therapy — including ketamine-assisted psychotherapy — when clinically appropriate. These therapies are carefully integrated with IFS and/or exposure-based work to deepen access to core emotional material, promote rapid insights, and facilitate lasting transformation.
Psychedelic therapy may help:
Increase access to Self energy and reduce inner criticism
Surface and process trauma that’s otherwise inaccessible
Accelerate the healing of deeply ingrained emotional patterns
This work is conducted with extensive preparation, clinical support, and integration to ensure safety and depth.

Why We Integrate These Approaches
Healing emotional pain requires more than symptom management. We help you shift your relationship with anxiety, depression, or trauma by working with your entire internal system — not just the behaviors on the surface.
By combining IFS, mindfulness-based exposure therapy, and psychedelic tools (when appropriate), we provide a comprehensive path forward for people who’ve tried everything and still feel stuck. Whether you’re dealing with severe anxiety, complex PTSD, or recurrent depression, our integrative model is designed to help you heal deeply and holistically.
We specialize in helping people who haven’t found relief elsewhere.

What types of problems do you work with?
What We Treat
At Denver Emotional Health, we specialize in helping individuals navigate a range of challenging emotional and psychological experiences. Our expertise lies in treating:
Anxiety Disorders: We provide support for various anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, and more. Whether you’re struggling with persistent worry, overwhelming fear, or debilitating panic attacks, we can help you develop tools to manage your anxiety and regain a sense of calm.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): We offer specialized treatment for OCD, utilizing evidence-based approaches to help you break free from the cycle of intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. Our goal is to empower you to regain control of your life and reduce the impact of OCD on your daily functioning.
Depression: We understand the debilitating nature of depression, from persistent low mood and loss of interest to feelings of hopelessness and fatigue. We work with you to address the underlying causes of your depression, develop coping mechanisms, and rediscover a sense of joy and purpose.
Complex Trauma: Complex trauma, often stemming from prolonged or repeated exposure to adverse experiences, can have a profound and far-reaching impact on emotional and psychological well-being. It frequently manifests as a combination of anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, relationship difficulties, and other mental health challenges. We are skilled in helping individuals understand and heal from the effects of complex trauma, addressing the underlying wounds that contribute to these diverse symptoms.
Understanding the Interconnectedness of Symptoms
It’s important to recognize that conditions like anxiety, depression, and the effects of complex trauma often overlap and influence one another. For example, someone with complex trauma may experience chronic anxiety, struggle with depressive episodes, and have difficulty regulating their emotions. Our approach takes this interconnectedness into account, providing comprehensive and integrated treatment that addresses the full spectrum of your experiences. Our goal is not just symptom reduction but to help you develop greater resilience, self-understanding, and a deeper connection with your inner strengths.
You don’t have to fit neatly into a box to find help here. If you’re struggling with any of these issues, or if you’re experiencing emotional distress that doesn’t fit neatly into a specific diagnosis, we encourage you to reach out.
We’re here to help you navigate these challenges and find a path towards healing and a more fulfilling life. Contact us today to learn more about how we can support you on your journey.
